Hug to Protect
This one is called "Hug to protect".
I think this photo arouses a sense of community and carries a message of altruism that I hope this 2023 will bring to humanity, making us reflecting on the importance of staying close and help each others, like a real community does.
In the vast plains of the savannah, populated by lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas, finding a moment to lie down and rest is really difficult for zebras.
So zebras developed this behaviour in which they stand astride resting their head on their neighbors back.
This position takes the strain off their neck while still maintaining their diligence in looking for predators.
This "hug" position ensures that no predator can sneak up on them since, as each is looking in the opposite direction, together they have a full 360 degree view of the plain around them.
I found this adaptation so interesting and the scene so communicative that I decided to take this photo.
